Batch Resample There are times when we can reduce the amount of time it takes to complete repetitive work. In this tutorial we'll learn how to batch resample images. We'll first create a script and then apply that script to a bunch of images using the Batch Command. We'll also place the newly created images in a different folder from the original so we don't overwrite our originals. The first thing we need to do is open the Script Recording Docker. To do that go to Window>Dockers>Recorder.
The Recorder Docker will open. At the top of the docker you will see that standard icons for New, Open and Save. Click on the New icon. At the bottom of the Recorder Docker you will see that standard animation icons. The red dot is the record button. Click on it.
Go to Image>Resample.
For this script, I just want to increase the Resolution and I want to keep the original image dimensions. I've changed the Resolution to 300 DPI and checked the Maintain Original Size box. Click ok after you've entered your settings.
Back on the bottom of the Recorder Docker click the stop button. The stop button is the button with the box on it next to the record button.
You should now see the actions you've created in the Recorder Docker.
Click the Save button and save your script to the scripts folder.
Now we're ready to batch process our images. Go to File>Batch Process.
In the Batch Process dialog click on Add File. Browse to the files you want to effect and select them. Click ok. You should now see all the files you want to alter in the List of File to Batch Process area. Click on Add Script. Browse to your newly created script, select it and click ok. I've chosen to Save as new type. Also, unless you want all your images open in PhotoPaint after the batch processing is done you'll want to check the Close File after batch process box. Click the Browse button to browse to a new folder to save the altered images to. If you chose Save an new type, choose a type to save the images as. Click the Play button. You'll see the images open and close in PhotoPaint as they are processed. Once the script is done running, browse to the folder you had the script place your new images in and check it out. They should all be there and resampled to your specifications. This is so much quicker and easier than doing it manually. The script we created could have done much, much more to each image. It's easy to record scripts to take care of repetitive actions that will save you loads of time.
