PhotoPaint 10 3D Import With PhotoPaint 10 it is possible to import some 3D models and manipulate. Although there is supposed to be the capability to import DXF files, I was not successful. However, 3DMF files imported perfectly. I grabbed the Quesa logo 3DMF file from their web site for this tutorial. There are many free 3DMF models available for you to use in your images. I was also successful in importing .WRL files. (Virtual Modeling Language)
Go to File>Open and browse to the 3DMF file you would like to import. The above dialog opens and allows you to modify how the model is rendered, the size and resolution to bring it in as.
In the QuickDraw 3D Interactive mode you see the rendered model. You can rotate it in all directions.
You can move it.
You can also choose to view it in wireframe mode.
You can zoom in and out.
In the Ambient tab you can set the intensity of ambient light and color and it is immediately reflected in the preview pane as shown below.
You can choose from 3 different lighting options, set brightness, shadows and angles.
Once you've completed manipulating the model, click ok on the main dialog and the image will be opened in 2d in PhotoPaint. Being able to import 3D models extends the capabilities of PhotoPaint and allows you to add some great objects to your images. You can find lots of free models at StrataCafe.com. You'll need Stuffit Expander to be able to unpack them. Stuffit Expander is available for Windows and MacIntosh machines.
