History Palette Scripts In this tutorial we'll learn how to save commands in the history palette for either permanent or temporary reuse on different images. If you don't see the history palette when you open Paint Shop Pro 9 you can go to View>Palettes>History or press the F3 key.
Above is a simple text image with a drop shadow and inner bevel and below is the history palette showing all the actions performed on this image.
The actions selected can be saved to a QuickScript for re-use during the current session by clicking the Save QuickScript button shown below. Once saved you can re-use it on other images that you are working on. If you save another QuickScript during this session after the first one, the first one will be overwritten. You can only have one QuickScript at a time.
There is a solution to the single QuickScript problem. You can save the script permanently by right clicking on your selection in the History palette and choosing Save to Script.
A Save As dialog will open allowing you to save the script. You'll probably want to keep the default settings but just in case I'll tell you what they mean. The Save Only Active Commands option omits inactive or undone commands. Save materials is pretty self explanatory.
If you click on the Description button another dialog will open allowing you to place copyright and descriptive text in the script file.
To use the script simply draw something on a new image.
Click Run Script as shown below.
The commands will be executed on your image.
The History palette for the new image will show that you ran a Script on the image.
It doesn't matter what you make the original script for. It will work on most any type of object.
This is a very quick way to complete repetitive tasks with the simple click of a button. Have fun! |
