Creating and Saving Custom Shapes

Creating custom shapes in Paint Shop Pro 9 is quick and easy.

You must use vector objects for custom shapes. You can combine the vector objects so that your whole shape is saved. The arrow below was created with two rectangles.

Group them by going to the objects menu and choosing group.

You'll have a new Group in your layer palette. Rename it to whatever you want. I've left my at Group 1.

Go to File>Export>Shape

The Export Shape Library dialog will open and you can type a name for your custom shape and click OK.

Your new custom shape should now be in the shape drop down ready for you to use.

That's all there is to it. We've used a very simple shape here but you can get as complex as you want. This is just another tool that allows you to create re-usable objects that will save you time.

Have fun!
