Torn Paper Edges

Creating a torn paper effect with Paint Shop Pro is pretty simple. Choose the image you want to tear and open it in Paint Shop Pro.

We'll be using the Freehand Selection tool. It looks like a little lasso and can be found on the tool palette. The Tool Options dialog should be set to Freehand.

    

Draw a squiggly line wear you want your tear to be and then continue to draw around the edge of the image to complete the selection as shown below.

Go to the Selection menu and click on Invert. Go to the Edit menu and click on Cut. Be sure you have your background color set to white or whatever color you want before you cut.

Go to the Selection menu and click on Invert.

Go to the Effects Menu>3D Effects>Drop Shadow and add a drop shadow. My settings are shown below for the Drop Shadow dialog.
