Text on a Path (Pen Tool)
Create a new image 400 x 200 pixels with a background color of your choice.
Choose the Pen tool and left click on the left side of the canvas. Move to the right and left click again. Continue in this manner until you have the path you want.
You can adjust the curve of the path using the handles.
Click on the Text tool. Your path will be set.
With the Text Tool selected, mouse over the left side of the path until you see the cursor change. Type in the text you want.
Apply whatever effects you want to the text and go to Selections>Promote Selection to Layer.
Delete the path layer.
That's it. It's very simple to get some complex results with text on a path. You are not limited to the text tool. You can place text on any vector path. That means that you can place text on the shapes from the shapes library also. Just be sure to create them as vectors. You'll get some interesting and some unexpected results with some shapes from the library but normal squares and curves are perfect for this effect.
