Waving US Flag
Start with a new canvas 550x400 pixels with a light blue background color. Select the Rectangle shapes tool and a bright red. Draw a rectangle on the canvas.
Choose a darker blue color and draw another rectangle in the top left corner of the red one.
With white as your color draw the stripes on the flag.
Select the paint brush tool and in the tool options palette click on the paint brush with the arrow next to it. Choose Custom brush and select the star. Apply the settings shown below and draw the stars on the flag by clicking your left mouse button to place them.
Go to Effects>Geometric Effects>Wave and apply the settings shown below.
I used the shapes tool (rectangle and ellipse) to create the flag pole making sure to use the appropriate gradient (linear for the pole and radial for the knob) with a white foreground and black background color selection.
Select the retouch tool and apply the settings shown below. Make sure that you have Lightness Down selected at the bottom. Paint in the darker areas where the flag should be shaded as shown below.
There you have it, a quick and easy flag and you learned how to create custom shading as well. Have fun! |
