CodeCharge Studio 2 The application Builder is a super neato tool that lets you get up and running with just a few clicks.
There are nine quick steps to using the application builder. You must of course first have a database ready. Specify your server path and url.
Create a database connection.
Choose a connection type.
Provide server name, username, password and database. In some cases you don't have to supply a username and password. It just depends on the database you are connecting to.
After you provide all that information click on test connection.
There is also an Advanced tab that allows you to set other things like connection timeout and access permissions.
In the All tab you can see and edit the initialization properties.
The next two dialogs are for experienced users.
In step 3 you can enable auto-incremented keys, single keyword search fields, popup date picker and whether you want the site published once Builder finishes creating all the code.
Set up authentication for users to password protect pages that you are building. You can change any pages that you want protected or not protected in the Properties for that page once Builder is done.
Choose which tables you want included in the Project.
Here is where you set up permissions or access levels for users.
Below is the modified dialog.
If you click on the links on the left in the above dialog, (for the following screenshot the All link), the following dialog will open. You can choose whether to include all the pages in a menu that is automatically added to the pages as well as setting whether you want all the search, grid and record items on one page.
If you click on one of the other links you can set up search parameters.
You can set grid parameters...layout, sorting, navigation, fields to fit in the grid, the order they are shown in and also the name of the page. All of this can be easily edited after the Builder is finished if you don't like the setup.
Choose which field you want used as the link for getting the records.
Decide what fields you want shown in records.
See a preview in the IDE of what the page will look like.
Choose how you want the page displayed. Do you want vertical or horizontal menus? Do you want headers and footers? This program is very powerful and oh so versatile! I just love it!
Pick a theme for your project. There are many to choose from.
Review the decisions you have made and finish it if you like it.
If you chose the option to publish after Builder was finished the following dialog will open.
You will be prompted to create the server path if it does not exist.
Wallah, there you are. It's all done. Below shows all the work that CodeCharge Studio has done in a matter of minutes. It would take days to do all this work by hand!
If you click on your connection in the menu tree on the left, it's properties will show up in the property pane on the right. This makes it really simple to make changes if they are necessary.
Below shows the Project Explorer in Pages view.
Below shows our project in the Project Explorer in files view.
In the editor in Design view is represented below for all the pages created by Application Builder.
Now, there is another totally cool feature that I almost forgot about. It's called Diagram. If you right click on Diagram in the Project Explorer it will bring up a list of all your files. You can then highlight them and add them to the diagram view. This is really great for seeing just exactly what is happening in your project.
That should give you a basic idea of how easily an application can be created using the Application Builder. Next we'll move on to the Grid Builder. However, major software upgrades may be offered in the future at an additional cost, for example an upgrade from version 2.0 to version 3.0 may be priced at $150 (exact pricing to be determined at the time of the release). You can protect yourself from additional upgrade fees by subscribing to the Annual Maintenance Plan, or by purchasing a non-perpetual license (subscription) instead. Non-Perpetual License This is License Rental that gives you the opportunity to cost-effectively "subscribe" to, or rent, licenses of CodeCharge Studio software on an annual basis. You benefit by having the right to always use the latest version of the product at no additional charge.
