CodeCharge Studio 2 In this part of the review we'll get familiar with the interface and a new blank project. Setting up projects is quick and easy and requires only answers to simple questions provided by the IDE. When you start CodeCharge Studio you are prompted for a project either new or existing.
If you cancel the above dialog you will see the main IDE with lots of helpful links. That comes in very handy when you are first starting out with CodeCharge Studio.
If you don't cancel the opening dialog and choose new project you will be presented with another dialog. From here you can choose to create a blank project or use the application builder. For this part of the review we'll proceed with a new blank project. You can name your projects anything you like and each project is placed in CodeCharge Studio's Projects folder in Program Files.
You can also choose from one of the applications on the Solutions tab if you want a head start on a project.
Once a project is started you can access any part of it from the menu tree on the left of the IDE.
You can view the tree either by pages or files as shown below. On the left is pages view, on the right is files view.
There are property pages for everything you create in CodeCharge Studio which makes keeping track and modifying things very easy.
I found the Toolbox to be extremely valuable for saving time and keeping work load to a minimum. In the Builder Toolbox are utilities for:
All of the above will be covered in pages in this review.
The Forms Toolbox has some very valuable tools for those more experienced. In the Form Builder Toolbox are utilities for:
The HTML Builder Toolbox has all the necessary items for creating/adding quick HTML.
There are 5 preview views. Below is the Design view.

When you click on the Live Page view a dialog opens up for publishing to your local web.
If the path for your project doesn't exist in your local web you are prompted to have it created.
The Messages window is a very cool tool that shows you what is happening and any errors if they occur. You don't have to rely solely on the Messages window however as it has been my experience that you will also get an alert pop up letting you know there was a problem and what it was. It may even have options for you to choose from to fix the problem that was encountered. What we have here is the framework for a project. We have one HTML page with nothing on it. We'll have to add whatever things we want manually.
That's the basics of the blank project option. On the next page we'll explore creating an application with the application builder. On to the Application Builder page. Minor software upgrades/updates/patches will be offered free of charge for unlimited time. However, major software upgrades may be offered in the future at an additional cost, for example an upgrade from version 2.0 to version 3.0 may be priced at $150 (exact pricing to be determined at the time of the release). You can protect yourself from additional upgrade fees by subscribing to the Annual Maintenance Plan, or by purchasing a non-perpetual license (subscription) instead. Non-Perpetual License This is License Rental that gives you the opportunity to cost-effectively "subscribe" to, or rent, licenses of CodeCharge Studio software on an annual basis. You benefit by having the right to always use the latest version of the product at no additional charge. For tax-saving purposes, you can also report such software expenditure as a business expense rather than depreciating capital investment. Personal Edition: Pricing and Availability
