Repligator v4
Repligator is an awesome tool for applying effects to existing images, or enhancing an image with abstract design. It is easy to install and even easier to use. When you're feeling like your image needs something, or you just want something abstract, Repligator can get the job done. If you don't have an idea of what you want, Repligator will try up to 120 ideas on your image with some simple presses of the F7 key. Maybe you don't have an idea of what you want. If not, Repligator can help you create some new ideas. I had tons of fun with just one image of a teapot and the F7 key.
Above is the main interface where you do your "work". Well, actually Repligator does your "work" for you. You open an image in Repligator and have it start creating ideas for you. When I'm working with an image, I like to create a copy and work with the copy instead of the original. It's a very simple thing to do with Repligator. From the edit menu you select copy to clipboard and then paste it, close your original, and start working on your fresh copy.

If you just want Repligator to think up ideas for you, it's as simple as pressing the F7 key. Or perhaps you decide on a particular XForm, but need some different ideas with it. Pressing the F8 key will create ideas with the current XForm you have chosen. Oops, but when you press the F7 or F8 key, your image changes and you don't see the one before, and maybe you liked the first one better. There are a couple of ways that Repligator allows you to deal with that. In the Sequence menu you can choose to revert, or you can check out the Sequence overview which will show all the ideas so far. Then you can pick the one or more you like best.

You have options for image quality and image view(zoom). Since Repligator creates it's ideas on your original image every time, you can revert to the original quickly and easily. Or you can use the Sequence menu and revert to move back to the last idea created. Below you will see the original teapot image and then eight different randomized images that were generated from the original.
What you see above is very basic, very easy, and only begins to show what Repligator can do. The possibilities are almost endless, whether you have Repligator create ideas for you or you create your own. Don't think in absolutes either. Create a text image in your favorite paint program and apply some ideas to it in Repligator. You can see some examples here.
Repligator is a very inexpensive application that allows you to be extremely creative using simple or complex images. I know I won't be without it, and I recommend you just try it and see the power in it for yourself!
