Paint Shop Pro 6
Paint Shop Pro 6 is finally here and it's packed with improvements and additions! Jasc software took it's users suggestions and implemented them in their new version of Paint Shop Pro 6. The user interface has some changes to reflect some of the new options available. The line and shape tools have changed to include vectors and a new icon for selecting vector objects has been added to the main tool bar. I'm "Jasc'd" by the new version!
So what kind of things did Jasc do to Paint Shop Pro 6 to cause me all this excitement? Well just take a look at the three menu items below. I used to have plugins for all these things. Now they're included right in the software. Notice too that Paint Shop Pro 6 now includes watermarking. This service is provided by DigiMarc and you can join either for free or for a charge depending on your needs. Whichever way you go, you can watermark your images to help protect them from theft, and to advertise. Anyone who can read a watermark will be sent to your page on DigiMarcs site that gives information on how to contact you and you can add a little descriptive text also.
Check out the picture frames. There are quite a few to choose from to get just the right frame.
Paint Shop Pro 6 now supports vector imaging. What does that mean? Remember how hard it was to create curved text in Paint Shop Pro 5 (with the rotate tool). Forget about text on a path, it wasn't an option in version 5. With vector shapes and lines you can create text on a path, text on a curve, text on any vector shape you want with Paint Shop Pro 6!
But that's not the only changes that have to do with text. Look below to see the new text entry panel. Look how large it is. It is absolutely wonderful. You can even create your text as vector. Also included is the kerning option. Oh, and remember what happened when you forgot to pick your text color before you opened the text editor? Well now you choose your colors from the text entry panel. This is totally awesome!

And lines! Look at the options for lines. Jasc went all out when they created Paint Shop Pro 6.
There are new paper textures and new tubes. Version 5 tubes won't work with Paint Shop Pro 6, but when you install version 6 you have the option to convert your version 5 tubes or you can do it later.
When Jasc upgraded Paint Shop Pro 5 they didn't stop with just Paint Shop Pro. They also upgraded Animation Shop and it's just as awesome as the new version of Paint Shop Pro. There are new effects for images and text. Animation couldn't be easier and it's all included in Paint Shop Pro 6!
The two small animations above took seconds to create.
